September potluck breakfast WILL be held!... with an important change

We resumed our monthly potluck breakfasts last month to a good crowd and great food (see below for a note about the history of the breakfasts). Though the COVID pandemic has taken new turns, and the state of Illinois has instituted an indoor mask mandate for all persons, regardless of vaccination status, we've decided to NOT to cancel the September breakfast, principally because nearly every one of our people is vaccinated, and we can easily comply with the new mask mandate.

We invite you to join us on Sunday, September 5, at 9:00 a.m. for the meal (9:00 a.m. is the new start time for the breakfasts since our Bible study group has graciously agreed to meet at 8:00 a.m. on the first Sundays of months). The "rule" for this potluck will be the same rule we've had in place for decades: Bring food to share if you can or want to. But if you can't or don't want to bring food, COME ANYWAY. God ALWAYS provides!

One other "rule" for this meal: Please wear a mask when you enter the building and keep it on until you are seated at a table. After you finish your meal and move away from the table, please resume wearing your mask. [NOTE: We comply with all state guidance regarding public health measures to combat the COVID pandemic. NOT out of political interest, but to contribute to the protection of public health.]

join us as we renew a long-standing (AND DELICIOUS) TRADITION

In June 2011, we launched a series of first-Sunday-of-the-month breakfast potlucks that continued without interruption into last year... when the COVID-19 pandemic brought a sudden and necessary halt to all of our in-person ministries.

We invite you to join us as we renew our monthly breakfast tradition on Sunday, August 1, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in fellowship hall, on our building's lower level.

Since this is a potluck, you might wonder what you should bring. We have a long-standing rule when it comes to potluck meals: Bring food to share if you can, but if you can't (or don't want to) bring food, COME ANYWAY! God ALWAYS provides!

If you decide to bring food, it's up to you what you bring:

  • Eggs
  • Bacon
  • Breakfast casseroles
  • Pastries
  • Fruit
  • Yogurt, etc.

Our pastor makes a breakfast pizza (though for this special occasion, we expect more than just the pizza from him). We prepare on-site Belgian waffles and coffee. Just come and be part of this important renewal for our church.

NOTE: The August 1 meal will be held at 9:00 a.m. but that's NOT the usual time for our monthly breakfasts. Beginning with the September meal (September 5), breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m. to allow our 9:00 a.m. Bible study group to meet on its usual schedule (the group has graciously cancelled its session for August 1 to make room for the breakfast). We've moved up the start time for the August event to maximize participation. So join us!!!!
