A QUESTION FOR ALL TIME: wHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DIE?
Our Sunday morning (9:00 a.m.) Bible study group just completed a lengthy exploration of the subject of the divinity of Christ (whether Jesus was God). Now it turns to an equally multi-dimensional topic: The Afterlife.
What happens when we die? Is there a heaven? Is there a hell? If so, how do we get to each? and when? and how?
Our next Bible study begins Sunday, March 12, and will examine the biblical witness to these questions and many others (SPOILER ALERT: It's not a simple as you might think!). For example, in much of the Old Testament basically nothing happens to people when they die; they simply cease to exist, and at best take residence in a place of nothingness called "Sheol." Only later in Israel's history did the idea of an active afterlife gain traction.
