You might think the answer to that question is a simple, "Of course he was!" But the biblical record - particularly from Jesus himself - is not at all that clear. In fact, it can be argued that New Testament writers by and large declare Jesus NOT to be God... as does Jesus himself!
We don't expect you to believe that assertion now... or ever, if you don't want to. But we warmly invite you to join us for the conversation that will result from our thorough review of Scripture on the issue. We'll look at nearly every relevant moment in the Gospels, and dozens of texts in Acts, Paul's letters, and the rest of the New Testament. In addition, we'll explore Old Testament passages that might inform our discussion.
Our "To the Pointe" Sunday group (9:00 a.m. lower level) begins its journey on this question July 7. If you'd like a preview of where the group is headed, at least in its first months, review/download the list of Gospels texts the group will consider. When you click the image to this left of this article, you'll be taken to our downloads page, from which you'll be able to access both the list of Gospels texts and the full content of the cited verses.
