Intercessory prayer is prayer on behalf of - interceding for - another person or situation. There are lots of biblical examples of intercessory prayer, including, perhaps most dramatically, Jesus' prayer from the cross during his crucifixion: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" (Luke 23.34) Our newest small group will build on that solid spiritual foundation.
The semi-monthly, hour-long meetings of the Pray It Forward group will feature several components:
- A brief Bible study on some aspect of pray and the prayer life
- Prayer for a specific congregation from somewhere in the United States, chosen at random, a church we will notify with a letter
- Prayer for a specific congregation in the Quad Cities, chosen at random, a church we will notify with a letter
- Prayer for specific people whose needs are known to us
- Prayer for our community, states, nation, and planet
- Prayer for our own church
- Prayer for each other
The Pray It Forward group will meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month beginning this month, on September 17 (6:00 p.m.) We invite you to join us in prayer.
